PKd Foundation

The PKD Foundation is a non-profit organization with over 40 Chapters nation-wide. Headquartered right here in Kansas City, Missouri, they are the only organization in the United States that specifically focuses on funding research for PKD. Their mission is to give hope, fund research, advocate for patients, and build a community for all impacted by PKD (polycystic kidney disease).

I hold this role very close to my heart because this organization took a leap of faith in hiring me. I originally applied for a lower-level role, but the hiring supervisor reached out and asked me to apply for the role of Marketing Specialist. Honored, but definitely feeling a pinch of imposter syndrome I applied and got the job.

For close to three years at this organization, I wore many hats and held many titles ranging from social media manager and campaign organizer to miniaturist (a title I never knew existed, you'll have to Google that one). Challenging at times, working for a non-profit organization with a lean staff allowed me to build strengths that I never knew I had, nor expected to gain. In this role, I was able to make a difference not only in the organization but in the lives of the community we served.
